The BC Trades Equity Society was created to provide support and networking opportunities for women, trans, and non-binary individuals in the trades in British Columbia, Canada.
It is:
- Fully run by the individuals it supports
- Primarily funded and supported by membership
- A registered non-profit organization
- Open to all individuals who identify as women, trans men, trans women and non-binary individuals working in the trades in BC
The purposes of the society are:
1. To provide a positive environment of support and encouragement for women, trans men, trans women, and non-binary individuals in the trades.
2. To promote success for women, trans men, trans women, and non-binary individuals in the trades through education, leadership, and mentoring.
3. To decrease the barriers that prohibit women, trans men, trans women, and non-binary individuals from remaining in the trades.
4. To increase the employment and retention rates of women, trans men, trans women, and non-binary individuals in the trades.
